Privacy Policy

DuneRig is an independent online marketplace, available as a website (dunerig.com) and a mobile app, for buying, selling, and trading off-road and overlanding gear in the UAE. DuneRig is operated by an individual and is not a registered business entity.

This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. Questions can be sent to support@dunerig.com.

Account information: your name, email address, and emirate. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the name and email you allow them to share. Apple lets you hide your real email address and name, and we respect that.

Profile information you choose to add: a profile photo and a phone or WhatsApp number.

Content you post: listings and requests, including titles, descriptions, prices, photos, and your emirate, and the phone or WhatsApp number you add to a listing.

Messages: the messages and photos you send to other users inside DuneRig.

Activity on the platform: saved items, ratings and reviews you give or receive, reports you make, and users you block.

Technical information: if you turn on push notifications, a device token so we can send them to your device. On the website, we also collect basic usage and device information (such as pages visited, browser, and approximate location) through our hosting, analytics, and advertising tools, which use cookies and similar technologies.

We do not sell your personal information.

Other users can see your name, emirate, profile photo, your listings and requests, and the ratings you have received. When you rate someone, your first name and rating appear on their profile.

If you add a phone or WhatsApp number to a listing or request, other people who view it can see that number and use it to contact you. Only add a number you are happy to share.

Your messages and photos are visible to you and the person you are chatting with.

DuneRig administrators can view conversations when needed to handle a report, investigate abuse or fraud, or provide support. We only do this when there is a specific reason.

We use trusted providers to run DuneRig. They process information only to provide their service to us:

• Supabase, for our database, sign-in, and file storage
• Vercel, for hosting the website
• Resend, for sending emails
• Expo, for delivering push notifications to the DuneRig app
• Google Analytics, for website usage statistics
• Meta (Facebook and Instagram), through the Meta Pixel on our website, to measure how our ads perform and show our ads to relevant people. Meta receives information about your visit, such as the pages you view
• Google and Apple, for sign-in and for delivering push notifications

These providers may process data on servers outside the UAE.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of our users.

We send emails and push notifications about things that involve you, such as new messages and ratings, and occasional reminders and updates. You can turn off push notifications at any time in your device settings.

You can turn off the weekly update in your profile.

We keep your information while your account is active.

You can delete your account from within the DuneRig app, or by emailing us. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, listings, requests, conversations, ratings, saved items, and the photos you uploaded.

We keep an anonymous record of completed sales (item type, price, and date) so that platform totals stay accurate. It does not contain your name, email, or any other detail that identifies you.

Copies of data may remain in our providers' backups for a limited period after deletion before they are overwritten.

You can also delete a photo you sent in a conversation. It is then removed from the conversation.

You can view and update your name, emirate, phone number, and profile photo in your profile. You can delete your listings, requests, and sent photos yourself.

You can limit analytics and advertising tracking on the website by blocking cookies in your browser settings, using a tracking-protection tool, or adjusting your ad preferences in your Google and Meta accounts.

To ask for a copy of your information, to correct something you cannot change yourself, or to have your account deleted, email support@dunerig.com.

We use reasonable measures to protect your information, including access controls on our database and encrypted connections. No online service can guarantee complete security, so please use a strong password and keep your login details private.

DuneRig is only for people who are 18 or older and live in the UAE. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated in the app or by email.
